Cribbing – an International hobby

I really don’t know if it is me going a little bit senile as I approach the thirties or whether the citizens of this planet have really started crying too much. There is so much in every sphere to be happy about. Whether it is India shining, job opportunities, working abroad, making money, owning property or just inter-personal relations and having fun in life.

I see people make some choices, and then just keep crying about them for the longest times. People will come to a new country and crib about this one. People will be in India and crib about India. People will crib about their jobs and then crib again when they join a new one. So on and so forth. If you don’t like something, then why not change it and become happier in life? Perhaps there is no other way for me to describe it unless I have an audio recording of the multiple conversations that give me this perspective. Maybe more some other time… but I hope you get my drift.

Most of us are doing better today than we were doing 1 year, or 5 years ago. Why don’t we admit it and feel happy?

Porsche, Ferrari and Porsche… these are three cars parked together in our office parking lot. Otherwise… there are Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Corvettes and ton of Prados and Mercs and Lexuses… Good eye candy early in the morning… all the more fun when you also get to hear the engines rumbling into the parking slots. 🙂

Gulfnews: 6 years jail for Bollywood star

Yes, the star in question is Sanjay Dutt and I’m wondering what the future options are going to be for this sentence to be changed or dropped. It’s pretty massive for someone to face 6 years in jail, especially considering he is an age-ing star and his career will probably be finished if he goes to Jail now (and that too for so long).

I feel sorry for him. Not that I know the merits or the demerits of the case. But unless the appeal can get him some major relief, the rest of his life could become pretty mundane and sad, considering how well he was doing. Moral of the story – as mom and dad always said… just stay away from all the mumbo-jumbo. You never know when it comes and bites you in the a@$#.

So this is the latest thing I noticed just today while looking for an old photograph of mine (one with a real live koala). Anyway, so it got me wondering, obviously there will be some people inconvenienced by this (like me!) and of course inconvenience is not viewed very politely by anyone, and especially so if you’re in the west and very much more so if you’re an american. Hence, isn’t it very possible that someone or the other will just go ahead and sue Yahoo! for pulling something off even though they were giving it for free in the first place (and surely with the suitable disclaimers when you signed up for the service)…

Let’s see. I’m rather sure someone or the other will be up to it. It’s actually a good thing. Some services need to go and new ones need to come on. I like Y! photos better than Flickr though I had an account on both. Moreover, Flickr is not even accessible in Dubai so Y! photos is going to lose one customer for sure in the near future…

Blogging activity

I have not blogged actively for a long time now, maybe a couple of years. There were a number of reasons to it, like the non-availability of MS frontpage to edit HTML and just a lot of stuff happening in life which did not give me the opportunity to sit idle and brood+write. Now, my senses are flooded with so many new experiences, thoughts, processes and inputs that I feel its worth taking up again. I’ve been wanting to explore the different blogging avenues open as on date but have once again taken the shortcut and gone with wordpress, which seems to give one the freedom to do whatever they want.

Anyway, the reason I started this blog was that I got my first comment on this blog. Old feelings come back, when I started blogging about 5 years ago, and hardly anyone (in my circle) was blogging, or even knew what blogging was all about. Since then, many more have come and many more have left, but there are very few who have stuck to it. So I got a comment, and I finally have a blogroll, hopefully others would like to blogroll me as well. And I have all of these interesting things that I read online, which I am hoping can be put onto my blog as links… trying to get the technicalities fixed for that. Till then, a lot of it is still going to be available on my facebook page.

Fingers crossed for the blog this time. Maybe this will go on and on and on…. or maybe I’ll just get bored with this one once again! Time will tell.

Test Blog

This is my first post on this new blog. I have been wanting to move from rediff (where I hosted the blog last) for quite some time. Where next, is a touch question to answer. Finally, I think wordpress offers the flexibility to play with your layout without getting into HTML or any code at all. So this is going to be my test bed. Once it passes the test, I’m going to move my abyjain.com pointer to this site. Let’s see if all goes well.

Hopefully, this can be the window to our new life and new beginnings in Dubai and life from here onward.
